Art is long and time is fleeting.
Except for a stint in Florence, Italy, Rachelle been a Texas resident her entire life, in big cities and bucolic wide-spots-in-the-road alike. She recently moved from Austin, Texas to Tucson, Arizona where she works from her home studio as a graphic designer and enjoys doing visual art and fashion design in her spare time. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Studio Art and a minor in Graphic Design from St. Edward’s University. Rachelle also studied printmaking and sculpture at SACI in Florence, Italy.
For three years, she was art director for two ground-breaking publications, Austin Downtown Arts magazine and The BackWord online magazine. She worked with DiverseArts Culture Works for four years, and was a founding member artist of Pump Project Art Complex. Since moving to Tucson in 2008, she started Tu Scene, one of the city’s first and longest-running art blogs, co-founded Pop Up Spaces, an interactive/performance art/design collective, and has participated as a designer, stylist, curator and artist in several local art and fashion shows. She is currently working on a series of paintings exploring science, screens and spirituality. Rachelle posts pictures of her journeys, daily outfits and cute photos of her dog on Flickr. She likes Italo Disco and defunct shopping centers; she hates movie trailers and fennel.
